When it comes to helping victims and students safe in their homes, there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation out there about technology. Can the WiFi network be used to spy on them? Is that smart speaker listening? What about hidden cameras and listening devices? For victim service providers, fielding these questions from victims can be daunting and difficult to answer. Luckily, we connected with two experts willing to help us navigate these challenges. In our latest free webinar, EndTAB talks with experts Yael Grauer (Security Planner) and Martijn Grooten (Coalition Against Stalkerware) about demystifying home tech safety and how victim service providers who are not tech experts can help victims stay safer at home using technology. In this interactive session, we will discuss (1) which tech-enabled abuse concerns are realistic and which aren’t, (2) how to answer common tech safety questions concerning the home and (3) ways to provide practical guidance and best practices about WiFi networks, smart speakers and hidden cameras/listening devices.
